Second stage of n8x0 wireless mesh project is complete.

Main results:
  • fully functional mesh mode support; very stable; peak data rate achieved during tests: ~6Mbit/s;
  • 12 patches are accepted at linux-wireless and will likely get into 2.6.31.

Congratulations!

Mesh party video demo (2 comments)

We've conducted and recorded live heterogeneous mesh party with N8x0/OLPC XO.
We've reached our main goal -- make N8x0 mesh capable device and set up heterogeneous mesh network of N8x0 and OLPC XO.

Congratulations (:

What's left to do is driver hardening and bullet-proofing.
And after that, investigation and live testing of new capabilities should they be proposed by our analytical mesh-oriented projects.

Express mesh party summary (2 comments)

Added by Max Filippov almost 3 years ago

We've conducted an express mesh party on 29.03.2009: 2 x N810, N800 and XO.

Besides multiple stability issues, we've seen mesh network in action and even working mesh (level 2) forwarding.
Our current goal is to reach for the production-grade stability level.

Congratulations everyone! (:

Mesh party summary (1 comment)

We've tried to conduct mesh party on 24.01.2009 saturday meeting.
The party failed totally (:

First of all, we've had different partition sizes: 4M of initfs on boards flashed with DIABLO and 2M on pre-DIABLO, all filled up. So, nothing could be copied over to initfs. Re-flashing solved this problem.

Then, there's some difficulties in proper mesh. Although we've got to the state where 'iw station dump' showed that peer link is established, nothing could be sent over that link. 'iw mpath dump' didn't show anything. Contrary to the heterogeneous setup with b43 on the other side. This problem is being investigated.

IBSS patch is accepted upstream

Our IBSS-enabling patch series is accepted upstream.
Now it is reachable at gitorious repository for stlc45xx (http://gitorious.org/projects/stlc45xx).
Maybe there'd be some more feedback on new bugs (:
