Overview
Modeling 3g/wlan offload. Points of study:
- Criterias for handover from 3g to wlan / from wlan to 3g
(ANDSF (Access Network Discovery and Selection Function)):
USER PREFERENCES && FITNESS ==> HANDOVER DECISION - Study offload in different environments (of varying typical apps, QoS etc.) with different parameters set for the fitness function.
- Investigate Traffic Tagging: send control traffic over 3g, and data traffic over wlan
- determine how to make q2s work with multi-iface wlan-3g nodes, develop the tcl interface for it [short-term; mid-Sep];
- implement a dumb network fitness function [short-term; mid-Sep]
- implement ts23.402 s2a [long-term; end of Sep, and really 1st week of Oct];
- devise a network fitness function, using parameters available to us, and implement it [long-term; theory mid-Sep; practice may be postponed to 1st..2nd week Oct];
- create a family of models using 3g/wlan offload with our fitness function [long-term; 1st..3rd week Oct]
- determine how to make q2s work with tagged flows [long-term; beginning of Nov and further; but may be pushed to the front of the task queue if 3g/wlan offload proves too difficult]
- tagged flows + offload with fitness function - how do they live together? [long-term; might be never investigated (???)]
